In short
Remove all components, deflate and lock the pneumatic isolators, and lift the table top separately from the legs. Move it as the manufacturer recommends, then re-level and re-enable isolation at the new site.
Before
- Photograph the optical layout.
- Pack lasers, mirrors and mounts in padded crates.
- Disconnect the air supply and lock the isolators.
Lift and move
Optical table tops are very heavy, sometimes over a tonne, with concentrated weight. They move on heavy-duty skates or by crane when there is no elevator access. Check the elevator rating and door widths in advance.
At the new site
- Place the legs first, then the top.
- Reconnect air, level and test isolation.
- Rebuild the setup from the photos.
