In short
Before moving a CNC machine, back up programs and parameters, drain coolant and remove chips, move the axes to transport position and lock them with the manufacturer's brackets, and disconnect power and air. After placement a technician levels and checks accuracy.
Technical preparation
- Back up programs, parameters and offsets.
- Drain the coolant tank and clean out chips.
- Move axes to transport position and lock them per the manufacturer.
- Secure doors, tool changer and moving parts.
- Have an electrician disconnect power and air.
Check with your mover
- Machine weight and marked lifting points.
- Opening widths and the exit route.
- Whether a forklift, heavy skates or a crane is needed.
- Floor load at the new site.
After placement
The machine is set on its levelling feet, and a technician levels, connects and checks accuracy. Book the technician for the same day or the next to get back to production quickly.
