In short
A crane is needed when large furniture will not go down the stairwell or into the elevator, on high floors without a service elevator, or to save time in a large apartment. Check in advance where the crane can stand, the balcony or window, and obstacles such as trees and power lines.
When you need a crane
- A sofa, wardrobe or fridge that will not fit the stairs.
- A small elevator or one that cannot take the weight.
- A high floor with narrow stairs.
- A large apartment you want cleared quickly.
What to check in advance
- Space for the crane next to the building.
- A balcony or window to lift through.
- Trees, power lines and obstacles.
- Whether the municipality needs to approve closing the pavement.
On moving day
Furniture is wrapped and attached, and the crane operator works with a crew member on the balcony. It is fast, and saves the risk of carrying heavy furniture down the stairs.
